Los Angeles Opera: Highway 1, USA/The Dwarf
Los Angeles Opera: Highway 1, USA/The Dwarf will be performing at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Sunday, March 3, 2024. This will be a one-time performance of the opera, which is a co-production between Los Angeles Opera and The Royal Opera, London. The opera is based on the true story of James T. White, a dwarf who lived in a small town in California and worked as a highway maintenance worker. The opera tells the story of his life, his relationships with the people in his town, and his struggle to find acceptance. The music for the opera was written by John Adams, and the libretto was written by Michael Korie. The production will be directed by Peter Sellars, and will feature sets by LA artist Shepard Fairey. The cast will include James T. White as the Dwarf, and will also feature members of the LA Opera Chorus.
