Los Angeles Opera: La Traviata
Los Angeles Opera presents La Traviata on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. La Traviata is one of the most popular operas of all time, and this production will be a fresh and exciting take on the classic story. Set in Paris in the mid-19th century, the opera tells the story of the tragic love affair between the courtesan Violetta and the young gentleman Alfredo. The music, by Giuseppe Verdi, is some of the most beautiful and well-known in all of opera, and the story is one that will stay with you long after the curtain falls.
This production of La Traviata will be directed by Francesca Zambello, one of the world’s leading opera directors. Zambello is known for her innovative and exciting productions, and she has a keen understanding of Verdi’s music. She has directed La Traviata before, but this will be her first production at the Los Angeles Opera.
