Los Angeles Opera: La Traviata
Los Angeles Opera is set to present La Traviata at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
This will be a new production of Verdi’s timeless classic, starring soprano Nicole Car as Violetta Valéry and tenor Javier Camarena as Alfredo Germont.
Conducted by James Conlon and directed by Michael Grandage, this will be a lavish production that will bring one of opera’s most beloved stories to life.
Violetta Valéry is a beautiful courtesan who falls in love with the young and handsome Alfredo Germont. Despite their difference in social class, the two are determined to be together. However, Alfredo’s father, Giorgio, disapproves of the relationship and Violetta’s lifestyle.
Torn between her love for Alfredo and her duty to his father, Violetta makes the ultimate sacrifice, leaving Alfredo to protect his family’s reputation.
Tragically, Violetta’s decision leads to her own downfall, and she dies of a broken heart.
Alfredo returns too late to save her, but he vows to always remember her sacrifice.
