Los Angeles Opera: Pelleas and Melisande
Pelleas and Melisande is an opera in five acts by Claude Debussy, based on the play by Maurice Maeterlinck. The opera was first performed at the Palais Garnier in Paris on 30 October 1902, conducted by Albert Carvalho.
The story concerns the love triangle between Pelleas, Melisande and Golaud, and the tragic consequences that result.
Pelleas and Melisande will be performed by the Los Angeles Opera at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Sunday, April 16, 2023. The opera will be conducted by James Conlon and will feature an international cast of singers.
